Clive Snyde – Business Guru
Clive Snyde business guru here with today’s Snyde Comment on the world of business.
The world of business is a like a tree full of monkeys.
All the monkeys are climbing up, except those that have fallen off, of course.
When the monkeys at the top look down, they see desperate faces with ingratiating smiles.
This sight strengthens their grip and makes them climb ever faster upwards.
When those same desperate climbers at the bottom look up, they see nothing but arseholes above them.
Welcome to the world of business.
Business English is very useful for business people and Clive Snyde is a business people person so he knows what he’s talking about when he talks about business, which he does do rather a lot of.
If you want to get ahead in business, you could do worse, but not much worse, than follow the teachings of the businessman’s business guru himself.
Snide is an adjective which means contemptuous or mean, and Clive Snyde is aptly named as he is a snide character indeed.
Monkey business is a term used to describe an activity that is considered foolish, or a business that is not entirely legal, though not quite criminal.
Gurus are people who supposedly know more about a particular subject than other people and are happy to pass on their knowledge for huge sums of money.
Ingratiating smiles are false smiles designed to try to win favour or approval from those above you.
Arsehole is the British English term for asshole. Monkeys don’t wear trousers and have no modesty when it comes to showing their arseholes. Look up under a tree full of monkeys and you’re not going to see much else, are you?
