The Glottal Stop
This lesson will tell you what a glottal stop is and then tell you how to use it. A glottal stop is also known as the voiceless glottal plosive and it’s used in many languages besides English. In fact, you probably use it without being aware of it. The glottal stop is called the glottal stop because the sound is made when the vocal cords close and stop the flow of air. The gap between the vocal cords is called the glottis. The glottal stop is also known as the voiceless glottal plosive, which means their air flow is obstructed between the lungs and the mouth by the closing of the vocal cords. The most pronounced use of the glottal stop can be found in Cockney English where the glottal stop replaces the /p/, the /t/, and the /k/ sounds when they are preceded by a stressed vowel sound and are followed by an unstressed vowel sound.

How to say all of the 118 elements of the periodic table while learning about comparatives and superlatives. For those students who have an interest in the periodic table and the chemical elements or who have to learn them in English, this lesson will ensure that you can correctly pronounce them all with a British accent. Some of the elements are pronounced differently in American English. This lesson also looks at superlatives and comparatives in English. Most of the information about the elements contains comparative or superlative forms to give you plenty of examples of how to use them.
The Pig
Roald Dahl's poem has a distinctive meter with 8 syllables per line, and a clever rhyming pattern at the end of each pair of lines. The poem follows the stress pattern oOoOoOoO, making it an excellent tool for mastering the rhythm of English. On our website, you can listen to the poem and compare the IPA transcriptions with the original Latin script. Additionally, we have provided exercises that allow you to practice the new vocabulary and expressions featured in the poem. Poetry is a wonderful way to learn about the rhythm of English, and this particular poem is both entertaining and educational.
