A Phonetic Aesop

Aesop’s Fables have been retold numerous times and added to over the centuries, and many of the fables’ morals have become so well known that they have become part of the English language. The lessons in this course are based on a 1919 version of Aesop’s Fables chosen because the language is suitable for learners of English yet is rich and varied enough to cover all aspects of British English pronunciation when coupled with the British English phonetic transcripts. Translated into British English IPA transcripts, these phonetic Aesop lessons will help students improve their pronunciation and teachers of English as a second or foreign language who want to work on pronunciation in the classroom.

Body Idioms

I originally thought that I would find 100 to 200 idioms related to the body, but as I continued gathering the idioms for each part of the body, I realised there were going to be considerably more. With an ever-growing list of idioms before me, I despaired of ever being able to complete the definitions and examples that would be required for each one. However, with a bit of elbow grease, I put my back into it, and managed to complete all 522 of them. In this course, you will find many of the idiomatic expressions related to the body.

Collocations

Certain words always go with other words. The words just "sound right" if you are a native English speaker. An expression like make the bed is a collocation but many students confuse it with do the bed which sounds wrong to native English speakers. If you do this course, you will not make mistakes with these collocations.

Not everybody in the world calls each country by the same name. For instance, I live in Spain, but the Spaniards call this country España.
