In articulatory phonetics, a consonant is a speech sound that is articulated with complete or partial closure of the vocal tract. The 21 consonant letters in the English alphabet are B, C, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, V, X, Z, and usually W and Y.
